OPPORTUNITIES AT SECOND NATURE
Contract Position Announcement (8/15/2011): Program Associate--CLOSED
Second Nature has recently launched the next phase of its capacity building efforts to advance the institutional capacity of minority-serving and under-served colleges and universities to commit to sustainability and climate neutrality. The Education for Sustainability (EfS) Innovation Program, the second phase of the capacity building initiative, promotes innovation and leadership among the under-resourced higher education institutions.
Second Nature seeks the services of a Program Associate for a 6-month contract. Under the leadership of the President and the Vice President, and reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Development, the Program Associate will actively work towards Second Nature’s mission to advance sustainability in higher education across the United States with a special focus on the EfS Innovation Program. This is a full-time temporary position that requires a 6-month commitment, pay commensurate with experience, no benefits. This position requires a working presence at Second Nature office in downtown Boston, with some telecommuting and occasional travel. Seeking Graduate Students/Seniors for Paid Sustainability in Higher Education Internships
Description
Second Nature is seeking student interns to work on multiple projects involving sustainability in higher education. Interns will assist with the development of several national programs focused on accelerating the progress of under-resourced and minority-serving institutions in institutionalizing the goal of creating a sustainable society as a core part of their mission. This work will be in support of the goals and objectives of Second Nature’s strategic initiatives, the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) and the Education for Sustainability Innovation Program.
Graduate students are invited to apply, and very capable seniors and recent graduates will also be considered. Minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team. Students with excellent academic records (above 3.0/B grade point average) will be considered. Applicants with an academic interest in sustainability are preferred.

USGBC Center for Green Schools - Higher Education Associate--CLOSED
The Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council invites applications for a higher education associate. This individual will work as an integral member of the Center for Green Schools with a focus on leading the development, implementation and management of a program that supports sustainability and green building initiatives at under-resourced institutions and reaches students, faculty and staff in under-served communities. Primary responsibilities of this individual will include day-to-day program management, maintaining and building relationships with collaborating organizations, creating or adapting tools and resources to meet the needs of a diverse community and serving as the point of contact for under-resourced schools, including community colleges and minority serving institutions.

Experienced in energy efficiency program administration, residential construction building, trades or HERS rating? If so, the New York State Builders Association Research and Education Foundation (NYSBA REF) seeks a self-motivated, goal oriented team player with excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Requirements: Bachelor's Degree, experience in energy efficient construction or building trades, analytical and math skills, ability to prioritize responsibilities, meet deadlines, communicate technical concepts to builders and homebuyers and work closely with staff. Will need to balance time in office and in the field. Proficiency w/windows based computers & knowledge of database design is highly desired. Reliable vehicle & clean drivers record required. Program Dates and Details: June-August 2011, 40 hours/week with flexibilty for vacation, work at the Fore Solutions office in Portland, ME.
Fore Solutions is seeking summer 2011 intern to participate in an effort to bring the state of Maine to the forefront of high performance green building and to help Fore Solutions achieve its vision of inspiring and advancing innovations in the building field and in communities.
